She

She. Do you know what goes through someone when he spends sleepless nights and dreamy days? Or, perhaps, look elsewhere in the class when he should have been looking at the board or the teacher? Or, perhaps, satisfying himself with thoughts of “It is not to be” and yet hoping against hope?

Maybe. Maybe not.
I do.
All because of that ‘She’.

Have you loved someone for 3 years and still crave for one look? Has it happened to you that you get infuriated when someone speaks slightly untowardly about someone with whom you have seldom spoken? Has it happened to you that you get rejuvenated everytime you see her smile?

Maybe. Maybe not.
It happened to me. It happens to me.
All because of that ‘She’.

Has it occurred to you that when you see her with somebody else, you keep telling yourself that your happiness lies in hers, knowing deep within that it is only a poor consolation that you offer yourself? Do you feel relieved at the advent of a Friday when you can go home and yet feel a little down and a little lonely and disconnected? Does it feel futile coming to class at the absence of a single person?

Maybe. Maybe not.
I feel it.
All because of that ‘She’.

To be continued…

A Little More Of Me

In my second post, let me get into letting you guys know a little bit more of me…(If you already don’t) – my hobbies, for example. I love reading story books of a few kinds. Sherlock Holmes is my all time favourite. The language, the style of speaking, the intricate and delicate deductions - all make for a fantastic reading. I have always liked, like most of you, reading adventure books( remember The Hardy Boys or The Famous Five?). Two of my other favourite authors are certainly Dan Brown and O Henry. Of course I am not going to list all the authors I like…but the ones I have named above top the charts in my book.

Among Bengali books, Feluda and Professor Shonku remain my favourites. Some of my favourite Bengali authors include Shirshendu Mukherjee and Suchitra Bhattacharjee. Some people have asked me why I don’t like reading novels. Well, to be frank, I hate stagnating story lines – where I have to read 500 pages to understand something which could have been expressed in 5. That doesn’t mean I hate all novels. I found Amitav Ghosh’s “Calcutta Chromosome” quite engrossing, because the story moved on with a frequent twist, keeping me involved and interested. I have also liked one or two SharatChandra-BankimChandra novels – more due to the language than anything.

All work and no play? Uh no. I love sports too. Football and cricket are the two primary games I play (or at least try playing !!!). I try bowling in cricket and defending in football. Not that I am of any good at either. But I still play and enjoy doing so – giving it my best shot everytime.

Of late, after joining college, my peers and seniors have perhaps discovered another hobby in me (sounds strange, doesn’t it?). Dancing, they say. Some of them have even asked me whether I learnt it somewhere !! Just like sports, I am no good at dancing, but I love doing it (discreetly if possible – Most of you are bathroom singers, I am a bathroom dancer !!!).

My next post will be on a topic that has troubled me for the last 3 and a half years. The draft is quite ready. I will post it after I get a few comments on this one.

My First Post

Ok..So it begins here. Let me make it very clear at the very outset what I am going to post in here. As the name of the blog suggests , they will contain my world in my style. A common question creeping into your mind would probably be “Why has he named his blog in such simple words and not something striking and/or flowery or abstract?”. Well, then, as I said – It is my world…..I am not going to baptize it with some flashy name that has nothing to do with me, my thoughts, my ideas or my philosophies.

The second possible question could be “Why start a blog now?” I am not someone who believes in converting or morphing others’ ideas or philosophies by imposing mine. So my thoughts that will follow in my blog will not be with an intention to injure or change anyone’s ideas – but to give vent to those which I possess. So please take it with a pinch of salt if they contradict yours – we may be seeing the world in different colours, but it isn’t necessary for one of us to be wrong.

So much for the introduction. I will follow this up with a few posts soon that will put across what I mean. Your comments are most welcome in each of my posts….I’d certainly like to know what you think.
